Dear Mommy

( for a friend who is hurting – and for whom I wish I could do much more.  sarah )

Dear Mommy,
please don’t cry
I feel that teardrop
in your eye.

My time with you
may be small
but my heart’s love
gives you all.

In your garden
I will not play
but forever
I will stay

With your spirit
with your love
as your secret
cooing dove.

Hold me close
as I hold you
know that we are
ever two.

Never goodbye
never farewell
for in your soul
I’ll always dwell.

  1. SO close to home…what i would give for your way with words
    beautiful, just beautiful

Perhaps there are many more of us out there than we think. I’m afraid my way with words is the only useful thing I have.

  2. I’ve managed not to cry for two days Sarah, until I read this. You have that amazing way of knowing and touching my very heart and soul. Thank you my friend.

  3. you made me cry…honestly…such beautiful poem..blessings..

I’m glad that this brought some emotions up for you. Please say a prayer for my friend.
    Thanks,

  4. There’s not a word to little or too much in this one, it’s perfect (if there is such a thing in art) but even more so, it’s human, the kind of human that makes life so beautiful, us so beautiful.

My thoughts and prayers to go out to your friend and anybody else who can relate.

SP, thanks for your kind words. And thank you too for your thoughts and prayers for my friend.

  5. I am reminded of a friend who lost his first son via premature birth. I’m sure these words would provide comfort for the son I’m sure they are still missing even now.

StruHt, I am sorry to hear of your friend’s loss. If you feel showing him this would bring him comfort somehow, I’d be honored. Losing a child, whether born or unborn is indeed something that never goes away – as a memory or a loss.
